Jet wing hits building [PHOTOS\VIDEO], The wing of a jetliner carrying 189 travelers cut through a building
at the airport in Johannesburg, South Africa, just as the plane was
about to take off on Sunday night.
The accident at
Tambo airport late Sunday night was caused by the airliner using the
wrong taxi way which was too narrow for the passenger jet, the South
African Civil Aviation Authority said Monday.
Air
traffic control had told the flight crew of the British Airways Boeing
747-400 departing for London to use a specific taxi way, said SACAA
spokeswoman Phindiwe Gwebu in a statement.
